New Delhi, May 19 (SocialNews.XYZ) A 37-year-old manager of an electronics company was attacked by two snatchers, who even robbed his mobile phone when he was returning home with his daughter from her school in north-east Delhi's Bhajanpura area, an official said on Friday.
The official said that the incident occurred on Thursday around 1.30 p.m. and one of the accused, identified as Mohammad Azad (24), a resident of Seelampur, has been arrested.
"A manhunt has been initiated to nab the other accused identified as Sameer, a resident of Shastri Park," the official added.
According to police, the victim was returning in a bus with his daughter after picking her up from school, when he saw two persons sitting inside the bus and one of them was waving a knife.
"Around 1.30 p.m., the victim and her daughter de-boarded the bus near Ambedkar college and the two men also started following them. One of them took out a knife and threatened the complainant to hand over his mobile phone," said a senior police officer.
"However, the victim resisted. One of the accused slapped him and took out his mobile phone from his pants. The duo accused fled from the spot in an auto-rickshaw but the victim also followed them in another auto-rickshaw," the police officer said.
At the traffic signal, the auto-rickshaw came to a halt, and the victim, who had been riding another auto-rickshaw behind the accused, confronted them and asked to return the phone.
In a shocking turn of events, one of the accused involved wielded a knife and proceeded to assault the victim, causing injuries to his hand and hip.
After the incident, the accused attempted to flee the scene. However, the victim raised an alarm, attracting the attention of the public nearby. Responding to the commotion, the gathered crowd managed to apprehend one of the suspects before the police arrived.
A case of robbery has been registered at Bhajanpura police station.
