Released in 2013, the film was adapted from Chetan Bhagat's novel The 3 Mistakes of My Life, the film starred Sushant Singh Rajput, Rajkummar Rao and Amit Sadh as the three main protagonists while Amrita Puri plays the female lead.

Abhishek Kapoor even shared candid pictures from Berlin Film Festival and wrote, “I remember our 2013 #berlinale premier and the audiences reaction to it.. at the end of the screening there was a minute’s silence and then a standing ovation that felt like it lasted forever. I had never even dreamed that my film would screen at such a prestigious festival. I am eternally grateful to the universe for taking me through this joy ride and to my producers @ronnie.screwvala & #sidroykapur for believing in me and supporting me whole heartedly. Kai Po Che! received six nominations at the 59th Filmfare Awards, including Best Director for Kapoor, Best Supporting Actor for Rao, Best Male Debut for Rajput, and Best Story. The film won two awards, including Best Screenplay for Kapoor and Best Background Score for Hitesh Sonik.
