Chandan Roy Sanyal confirmed his debut directorial on social media, he wrote, “Announcing my labor of love on a Valentine Day - “The Playback Singer” to act, write, direct a story reaping for years in my mind. Set in Bihar, The Playback Singer is a musical period romance, which will see the journey of three characters and their struggles. The film is being produced by Lonestar Films and Chandan Roy Sanyal Motion Picture Company.
Chandan Roy also wrote a post about his dream coming true, about the movie and shared some interesting details, he penned, “I was always fascinated by Hindi love stories - grew up watching films in the 90s and the European and American cinema and the world cinema came way later to me , I saw 90s with a microscopic eye. And when I started acting in films and got the opportunity to work with the best in Hindi cinema , the ambition to tell my own stories grew in me , I started writing and making shorts mostly with my money and my mentors told me I can make films , then I started writing long format stories, made a film called Suzie Q which will be released this year a quirky comedy and then I set my eyes on my next film The Playback Singer and I ran around asking for money to make it but mostly got rejected because for whatever reasons you know, I ran for 6 years with the idea and then divine intervened, how can I be denied the opportunity to make film on love and met my partner @pankaj_mamtora through @devanshpatel1 @thelonestarfilms and they immediately caught up with me like fire. And now my story will be told exactly how I see it and hear it . A film with lot of love and music . People who know me know how much music I consume in a day. Some killer announcement is coming your way on the music album of my film, some greats will be working on it. I will round off saying , keep the passion and integrity , the world will try throw you off with various reasons but you don’t give up and just keep an eye on the target. This is just the beginning.
