Rajamouli met Spielberg on the sidelines of the 80th Golden Globe Awards, where 'Naatu Naatu' from his directorial 'RRR' won the award for Best Original Score.
Rajamouli's directorial was also nominated in the Best Non-English Language Film category at the 80th Golden Globes but lost it to Argentina, 1985.
RRR is a fictional story based on the lives of two Telugu freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem.
Ram Charan and Jr NTR played lead roles, respectively. The film also starred Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn and Shriya Saran, the film collected over Rs 1200 crore worldwide.
RRR received universal acclaim for Rajamouli's direction, writing, performances of the cast, soundtrack, background score, action sequences, cinematography, editing, and visual effects.
RRR became the third Indian film and the first Telugu film to receive nominations at the Golden Globes, including Best Foreign Language Film, and won Best Original Song for Naatu Naatu.
