Ratan Pratap Speaks Up About Online Trolling

Tv host turned actor Ratan Pratap, who injured his wrist a few months ago, has been a target of trolls online. Ratan has been spotted by the paparazzi with his wrist brace at several public outings and this seems to have created a debate among netizens. Trolls have now questioned his injury, with some saying how it hasn’t healed yet and some even calling it a publicity stunt. The stories around the same are growing with each public appearance.

Speaking to us about the matter he said, “I understand that trolling should not be taken seriously but sometimes it gets too personal. Firstly, my injury hasn’t healed since six months and I am supposed to undergo a surgery for the same soon. Secondly, why do I need to justify wearing a wrist brace to anyone? Have I mentioned in any interview that I am in pain because of my wrist? If I wanted sympathy I could have just spoken about it. I am really tired of reading new things about myself everyday. One day they say I had a surgery then they say its a gimmick! Its exhausting and it does take a toll on me to read such negative things constantly”.

Ratan believes that such kind of trolling affects his professional life too. He elaborated, “Our industry works on perception and when the conversation around me is such a negative one, it does affect my work sometimes”. Amidst this controversy, Ratan also seems to have garnered support from his admirers. “I cannot deny there is a section of the public that does support me! I don’t want to sound ungrateful for all the love I receive from people and the media alike. It’s a huge driving force”, he added.

As per reports, Ratan is currently working on a web series with writer Abhinandan Sridhar. When asked about the developments about the project he refused to comment.
