"This entire area was an extensive cemetery related to the archaeological site Can Hill. It was used for about 400 years with burials relating to various cultures. Some from the Chancay culture, which is approximately 600 years old. Others are associated with Huaura culture, which is some 800 years old."

STORYLINE:
An ancient cemetery dating back to the Chancay and Huaura Indigenous cultures, some 600 to 800 years old respectively, has been discovered in the Carabayllo neighborhood of Lima.
Workers with the local natural gas distribution company, Calidda, were digging up the streets in the neighborhood to lay down gas distribution pipelines when they came across the archaeological find on September 20.
Archaeologists have thus far uncovered eleven bodies, among them children and adults and that many of the burial sites include artifacts buried alongside the human remains, including ceramics, textiles and local plants.
One body was found surrounded by interwoven reeds.
