Keep your political agendas aside: Aishwarya Sakhuja on mass vaccination program for cows.

Amongst other frivolous news items flashing on Television these days, there is another horror brewing in India's Rajasthan where cows in huge numbers were reported dead due to a new virus causing them to contract the lumpy skin disease.

As per reports, lumpy skin disease is a viral disease that affects cattle. It is transmitted by blood-feeding insects, such as certain species of flies and mosquitoes, or ticks. It causes fever and nodules on the skin and can lead to the death of the cattle.
At the time of writing this, the lumpy skin disease has spread across in 15 states in the country. As per current statistics, over 18.5 lakh bovine animals are affected in the country.

Saas Bina Sasural actress Aishwarya Sakhuja who's always been the voice for the voiceless, had recently appealed to the Kerala Chief Minister after the mass killing of stray dogs in the state, she's now come out to spread awareness about the Lumpy Skin disease. Without mincing her words, she wrote, 'Cows are neither Hindus nor Muslims. They do not belong to one religion. They are an essential part of the animal kingdom & right now these beautiful beings, that are worshipped in this country, suffering from a disease called lumpy skin disease. This is happening far & wide & often as they are not being vaccinated properly. There are 1000s dying every day in this very country.'

Further addressing the elephant in the room she shares, 'Politicising an issue is something that we are getting used to these days but keeping all our agendas aside, it is time something is done about their suffering instead of just using slogans & their pictures to corner each other.'
