Cultural, political issues among public grievances raised with govt

New Delhi, Aug 19 (SocialNews.XYZ) Apart from issues around exams, IT returns, frauds, delay in loans, pension, slow investigations and others, the Centre's Department of Public Grievances have also received complaints from the public regarding cultural, traditional, and political issues.

The Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System's (CPGRAMS) monthly report of July disclosed that the centralised grievance portal received complaints around tax refunds such as long delays, didn't receive return at all, incorrect amount credited, and incorrect/faulty rejection of refund claims, etc. The Central Board of Direct Taxes received many complaints about delayed processing of IT returns filed and mis-matches in TDS resulting in incorrect demand generation.

 

Moreover, there were complaints like citizen facing difficulties like getting invalid/incorrect PAN allotted to them, deleted and delinked with Aadhaar, delay/mistakes in issuing of PAN etc.

Similarly, the report said that Ministry of Home Affairs received complaints regarding pension issues (arrears not received, long delays, incorrect pay/pension authorities closing grievances without solving) and issues with SSC exams (joining letter not received, results withheld due to biometric confirmation, etc.) during the month of July.

The report said that complaints also comprised people concerns regarding cultural, traditional, and political issues.

Moreover, complaints about financial frauds (banks indulging in monopolistic, restrictive and unfair trade practices, unfair extra charges, transaction issues, etc.), insufficient initiatives/actions for women safety, inadequate functioning of CCTV at some public areas, issues like denial of transfer, lack of quality equipment plaguing CAPFs and slow investigation in critical cases (rape, dowry, etc.), lack of responsiveness towards lodged complaints were also received.

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs received complaints about illegal encroachment on properties and areas, poor quality/incomplete work by CPWD, complaints not being taken seriously and others.

As per the Department of Public Grievances, in July, a total of 77,414 cases were received on the CPGRAMS portal, and 68,567 cases were redressed.
