Bengaluru college faces case for creating jam while celebrating I-Day

Bengaluru, Aug 19 (SocialNews.XYZ) A case has been filed against Bengaluru's Mount Carmel College (MMC) for violating rules while celebrating Independence Day and creating chaotic traffic, police said on Friday.

According to police, the mega celebrations organised by the MMC saw a footfall of 6,000 to 8,000, resulting in disturbance of traffic in the arterial roads of the central business district on Monday.

 

The case has been filed under various provisions of IPC including wrongful restraint, obstruction in public way, public nuisance, and unlawful assembly.

The police said that the management had sold tickets to outsiders, through students, for Rs 100. The visitors had parked their vehicles on the road, creating a chaotic traffic situation outside campus.

Police also that the students were asked to sell 20 tickets each and the management had given 10,000 tickets. The trouble started when the management turned down a large crowd from entering the premises.

According to police, the college had sought permission for the celebration of Independence Day, but, sold tickets for its silver jubilee event.
