Sporting Events to Watch in July after the European Football Season

Midway through the year, there is still so much to look forward to in the sporting arena. Football fans might feel a little out of place with European leagues over. The FIFA World Cup is a few months away, but as we all wait for the resumption of these top soccer leagues, there are other major events to keep ourselves busy with.

There will be hundreds of sporting events to follow during the month of July, but we highlight only a few.

Hockey World Cup – July 1-17, 2022 (Terrassa, Spain and Amstelveen, Netherlands)

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) hosts the Hockey World Cup, an international field hockey competition. It has been hosted every four years between the Summer Olympics since 1971.

A qualifying round and a championship round make up the Hockey World Cup. Each stage follows the same format, with all competing teams competing in the qualification round during this round. Teams battle for a slot in the championship event after being divided into two or more pools. Since the top two clubs are automatically qualified, berths are decided during the playoffs.

The continental champions and other eligible teams compete in the championship game. The teams will again be split into pools and compete in a round-robin format.

The pools are put together based on the most recent global rankings. The top two teams from each pool compete for a spot in the final in the semifinals, while the lowest two teams compete for third place. Hockey is one of the sports that can be wagered on indiabetting.co.in so there is no better time to get your slips ready.

Tour de France – July 1-24

Tour de France is the most iconic and most prestigious cycling race in the world. It is an extremely difficult competition that features about 20 professional teams with nine riders each over three weeks in July.

Over a total distance of almost 3,600 kilometers (2,235 miles), the cyclers race across France and neighbouring nations.

One of cycling's three major tours is the Tour de France. The Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a Espana are the other two.

The 2022 edition will be the 109th Tour de France.

IAAF World Championships – July 15-24 (Eugene, Oregon in the USA)

The World Championships in Athletics are organized by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). Originally scheduled to happen every four years, it was amended to take place every two years after the third event.

The IAAF agreed that starting in 1913, the Olympic Games would serve as the world championships for athletics. This has gone on for 50 years, and the 2022 event will be taking place in Oregon USA, after it was postponed from 2021.

British Open (the Open Championship) – July 14-17 (Old Course at St Andrew's Fife, Scotland)

The Open Championship is the official name for the British Open. To distinguish it from the US Open and many other "opens" hosted worldwide, it is typically referred to as the British Open here. The British Open dates to the 1860s and is the oldest of the four Majors. The competition is held every year in July, and this year’s event kicks off on the 14th through 17th in Scotland.

Commonwealth Games – July 28 – August 8 (Birmingham, England)

The finest athletes from Commonwealth nations compete in athletic competitions known as the Commonwealth Games. It takes place after four years and is organized in a manner akin to the Olympic Games across various sports. Birmingham is set to host the 2022 games starting July 28 and ending on August 8.

The Commonwealth Games are a world-class event that, in the view of many, are second only to the Olympic Games because they draw the best athletes from Commonwealth member countries.
