The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol is expected to hold its fifth hearing starting at 3 p.m. ET on Thursday. The panel is set to detail former President Donald Trumps pressure on the Justice Department to overturn the 2020 election results, committee chair Rep. Bennie Thompson said. In the last two weeks, the committee has outlined how Trump and his allies pushed false claims of election fraud leading up to Jan. 6, 2021. Trump then encouraged his supporters to descend on the Capitol to stop former Vice President Mike Pence from certifying the Electoral College votes. Tuesdays hearing focused on the threats made to state lawmakers, election officials and workers in Arizona and Georgia. Former election worker Shaye Moss testified that she and her family were threatened all because of lies about the election being stolen.
