The first day of much celebrates and prestigious award show was hosted by Farah Khan and Aparshakti Khurana and Technical awards were handed out to some of the most beautiful and well-crafted films.
Categories, such as Cinematography, Screenplay, Dialogue, Editing, Choreography, Sound Design, Sound Mixing, Background Score and Special Effects (Visuals), were honoured on the opening night.
Vicky Kaushal starrer Sardar Udham Singh bagged 3 awards, for Cinematography (Avik Mukhopadhayay), Editing (Chandrashekhar Prajapati) and Special Effects (Visuals).
Akshay Kumar, Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan starring Atrangi Re bagged 2 awards, for Choreography (Chaka Chak – Vijay Ganguly) and AR Rahman for background score.
Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani starrer Shershaah bagged one award for best screenplay (Sandeep Shrivastava),
Actress Taapsee Pannu starrer won best dialogue award, which went to Anubhav Sinha and Mrunmayee Lagoo. Actor Ajay Devgn starrer won the sound design award (Lochan Kanvinde). Sports drama starring Ranveer Singh, the 83 film won the Sound Mixing award (Ajay Kumar P.B., Manik Batra).
The event was held at the Middle East’s largest state-of-the-art indoor entertainment venue, Etihad Arena, part of Yas Bay Waterfront on Yas Island.
