More rescue teams on way to rescue Kerala trekker trapped in fault line

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) It has been now 31 hours since a young trekker enthusiast has been trapped in a fault line of the Koormbachi hillock in Kerala's Palakkad as several efforts to rescue him have not been successful.

Babu, 23, along with three of his friends had climbed the hillock and while coming down, he slipped and fell into the fault line.

After failing to rescue him, his friends rushed downhill and alerted the locals and soon came the rescue team, but they too failed.

On Tuesday an Indian Coast Guard's Chetak helicopter attempted the rescue operations, but, due to inclement weather, was unable to complete the mission.

Two units of the NDRF are at the spot and have been doing their best, but have not been able to been successful so far.

Attempts to give Babu food with the help of drones also failed.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has sought the help of defence officials and a team of two Army Officers, two JCOs and five other ranks from Wellington is expected to arrive at the location before midnight, while the Indian Air Force will be transporting one more mountaineering team of the Indian Army from Bengaluru and will be joining by early Wednesday morning.
