Anupam Kher took to his social media profile and penned an emotional note in the memory of Poitier. He wrote, " I had the honour of meeting the legendary actor #SidneyPoitier in early 2013. He was gentle, compassionate and generous with his time for me. We talked about Indian cinema. He was especially happy to know that I had an acting school. I was over the moon when he said that he would like to visit it one day. He was a fantastic actor, a remarkable person and had a great aura around him! Om Shanti! #ToSirWithLove #Actor #Oscar #Kind”
Alongside his tribute, Anupam shared an adorable picture of him sitting with Poitier.
Poitier, who broke through racial barriers as the first Black winner of the Best Actor Oscar for his role in Lilies of the Field, died at age 94 on Friday. He is survived by six children, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Meanwhile on the work front, Anupam Kher will soon be seen in The Kashmir Files, which is written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri, also starring Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi. The film tells the story of genoside of Kashmiri Hindus.
Anupam is also shooting for Sooraj Barjatya’s next titled Uunchai, the film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, Danny Denzongpa, Parineeti Chopra, Neena Gupta and Sarika.
