Applause Entertainment Will Adapt Amar Chitra Katha’s Comic Books Into Animation

Digital Giant Applause Entertainment announces a historic deal; they will turn the best-selling Amar Chitra Katha's 400 comic books into animation content.

 

Amar Chitra Katha was founded in 1967 by the legendary Anant Pai and the combined sales of its comic books are said to add up to more than 1.5 million copies in 20+ languages, and now their content will be adapted into animation.

The official handle of Applause Entertainment announced the collaboration on social media. It said, “We're thrilled to announce an exclusive partnership with @amarchitrakatha to mark our foray into animation. This reimagining of India’s rich storytelling heritage will bring to life our mythical and real-life heroes in a modern rendition that blends culture with technology...@adityabirlagrp @sameern @segaldeepak @garg.prasoon @preeti.vyas @ranadaggubati”

The official handle of Amar Chitra Katha also confirmed the same, it said, “Amar Chitra Katha has announced a landmark partnership with @applausesocial the content studio from the Aditya Birla Group. The partnership provides Applause Entertainment with licensing rights to the Amar Chitra Katha catalogue, which comprises 400+ titles, that will be developed and produced into animated content. We are so excited and can't wait to see our epic stories in their animated avatars”  

The note further read, On the collaboration, Amar Chitra Katha CEO Preeti Vyas said, "At Amar Chitra Katha, we have been custodians of India's stories for over 54 years, and we are thrilled to partner with Applause Entertainment to take our rich storytelling heritage to Indian and global audiences through animation. The venture marks Applause's foray into animation. The production house is best-known for its web series 'Scam 1992' and 'City of Dreams', which is now in its second season.
