Bollywood celebrities such as Hema Malini, Farah Khan, Saiyami Kher, Maanvi Gagroo and more expressed grief as legendary actor Dilip Kumar passed away at the age of 98 on Wednesday due to age-related health issues.

 

Actor turned politician Hema Malini tweeted, “Veteran actor, exemplary role model for all heroes, my respected co star in Kranti, Dilip Kumar ji, is no more. I recall a couple of visits to his house & the pleasant meetings I had with him & Saira ji. My heart goes out to Saira ji, his life partner of many years, for this loss”

Newbie Saiyami Kher shared, “The greatest we have witnessed. An institution in himself. Everyone who followed tried to imbibe whatever they could from him. Folded hands #DilipKumarsaab”

Choreographer turned filmmaker Farah Khan shared her first encounter with the legendary actor, she wrote, “I was all of 4 yrs old when I saw my first stampede...#dilipkumar walked into a wedding reception...there was hysteria...women thronged to see him, the bridal couples stage broke!! Such was the magic! He was known as the tragedy king, but I was always a fan of his comedic timing...there will be no1 like him...deepest condolences to #sairaji n his family”

Actor Maanvi Gagroo wrote, “If you wanna watch a Dilip saab film today, make it Kohinoor. His effortless comic timing & devastatingly natural screen presence will remind you why he was a legend of the craft. #RipDilipKumarSahab”

A few days ago veteran actor was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) due to breathlessness while his wife Saira Banu kept her fans updated on his health condition.

Dilip Sahab’s career spans over five decades with hits like Devdas, Naya Daur, Mughal-e-Azam and Ram Aur Shyam to name some. He made his acting debut with 'Jwar Bhata' in 1944, was last seen in the 1998 film 'Qila'.

In 1991, Dilip Kumar was honoured with the Padma Bhushan for his contributions to Indian cinema. In 1994, he received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
