Actress Pooja Dey, who made her acting debut with MTV Dating in the Dark, has also been seen playing a lead role in the series Gandi Baat. She answers some exclusive questions here in the interview with us.
Excerpts from the interview
1.Who inspired you to become an actor?
I fell in love with Deepika Padukone when I saw Om Shanti Om. She is a very talented actor, and an even better human being. I was so obsessed with her acting skills that I wanted to follow her path into the film industry. It is my childhood dream to share screen space with only Deepika Padukone.
2.Do you think taking up acting as a career was the best career decision in your life?
I think it was one of my best decisions. If I continued my journey in medicines, I would have regretted it my whole life not because I got into medicines but because I didn't give acting a chance. I would have killed my dream if I chose to become a doctor at an early age. The happiness that I get when I am on set shooting for something, is surreal.
3.What is your dream role?
I would love to play the lead in an action film without anybody doubles. Also, it's a dream to share the screen with Deepika Padukone.
4.What are your strengths as an actor?
I am a method actor. I need to go through the emotions myself to be able to portray the character's emotions with precision. I take things positively. I am a director's actor. I am very passionate about my career. I am very punctual and I try to prepare myself beforehand. I try to give my best to every role that I play.
5.What advice would you like to give to people who want to become actors?
The only advice I would like to give is to believe in yourself. Follow your dreams. You might sometimes feel you have made a wrong decision or might feel stuck, but you should always keep going and love yourself. Always trust your instincts.
