The OTT giant Amazon Prime Video is foraying into film production in India, and the first film to be co-produced by the banner is the Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘Ram Setu’. Amazon Prime Video India tweeted the news on their official account on Wednesday.
“So excited to announce our first co-production — #RamSetu — a film which is a bridge between generations past, present and future! Looking forward to bringing this story to y’all with an exemplary cast and dream team! @akshaykumar @Asli_Jacqueline @Nushrratt @Abundantia_Ent,” the tweet read.
Akshay Kumar is all set to commence shooting for ‘Ram Setu’ from Thursday. The film will be shot at multiple locations with a major portion being in Mumbai.
It is reported that Akshay Kumar along with director Abhishek Sharma and creative producer Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, will fly to Ayodhya on March 18 for the mahurat shot of the film, which also stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushrratt Bharuccha.
‘Ram Setu’ is a story formed on facts, science and historical heritage and is anchored in the deep belief of Indians since centuries.
On Diwali last year, Akshay Kumar made announcement of ‘Ram Setu’ with its first look poster. The poster read, “Myth or reality?” Akshay is seen in contemporary clothes and a saffron scarf with long hair. A faint image of Ram is seen in the background of the poster. The film will also be produced by Akshay Kumar’s mother, Aruna Bhatia, and Vikram Malhotra.
Akshay Kumar will be next seen in Farhad Samji’s ‘Bachchan Pandey’. The film is the Hindi remake of 2014 Tamil film ‘Veeram’ and stars Kriti Sanon, Jacqueline Fernandez and Arshad Warsi as well.
Akshay has Rohit Shetty’s ‘Sooryavanshi’ alongside Katrina Kaif lined up for the release. The film was supposed to hit the theatres last year; however, it got delayed due to the novel corona virus pandemic. The actor’s upcoming films also include ‘Atrangi Re’, ‘Raksha Bandhan’ and ‘Bell Bottom’.
