Malayalam actor Dev Mohan who recently made an impressive debut with Sufiyum Sujatayum has been roped in to essay the crucial role of Dushyant in Gunasekhars upcoming project titled Shaakuntalam. Leading lady Samantha Akkineni who is headlining the mythological drama in the titular role shared the theme poster of Dev on social media and welcomed him on board. Based on Kalidasas eponymous work, Shaakuntalam will explore the love story of King Dushyanta and Shakuntala, daughter of Sage Vishwamitra and the heavenly Apsara, Menaka. The post-production formalities of the pan-Indian project are in full swing and a couple of massive sets have been prepared to shoot the same. National Award-winning costume designer Neeta Lulla who is known for films like Devdas and Jodhaa Akbar is working with Gunasekhar & Co for the epic film. Samantha already did a look test for her role.
Bankrolled by Neelima Guna under Gunaa Teamworks, the shooting of Shaakuntalam will reportedly kick-off from March 20 in Hyderabad and Mani Sharma is already busy composing the tunes for the film. Besides this project, Sam has the Tamil film Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal in the making and the second season of Family Man ready for release.
After helming Rudhramadevi with Anushka Shetty, Gunasekhar has worked on Hiranyakashyapa for the last four years. While the pre-production formalities are already wrapped up, he postponed the project due to its massive scale and announced Shakuntalam.
