Veteran actor Vinay Pathak starring social drama Dust has finally released digitally on MUBI app. The Udita Bhargava’s directorial debut was screened at the Berlin Film Festival.
Actor Vinay Pathak just took to his social media and shared the poster of the film and tweeted, “Finally it’s here. The labor of love n cinema. DUST a film by udita Bhargav now on MUBI. The film that premiered at @berlinale 2019 now ready for your viewing pleasure. @amritabagchi, @Kalyanmayee & @MortenHolst3”
Udita Bhargava’s Dust, which was screened at Berlin Film Festival under the New German Cinema category, is set against the backdrop of the Maoist insurgency.
The film also features Danish actor Morten Holst, and Kalyanee Mulay, follows David (Holst), a young German who visits Indore after the death of his Indian photojournalist girlfriend Mumtaz (Amrita Bagchi) and “embarks on a journey to the troubled heart of India. As he tries to retrace her steps before her death, he digs deep into Mumtaz’s documentation of the Maoist uprising in Indore.
Bhargava began writing the script as a short film in 2013, towards the end of her course in Berlin. She was able to expand her story when she secured funding for a full-length feature from the production company Unafilm.
