Actor-comedian Sunil Pal, who will next be seen in a film titled ‘Lockdown To Unlock’, has said that makers of forthcoming social-comedy drama film are planning to release it in theatres from in first week of April. He added saying that the film is based on incidents which took place during nationwide lockdown due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Sunil Pal was interacting with News Helpline to promote his film ‘Lockdown To Unlock’ in Mumbai.
Sunil Pal is the winner of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge (2005) on STAR One. He has acted in various Bollywood films doing minor comic roles.
In 2010, he wrote and directed a comedy film, 'Bhavnao Ko Samjho', which featured a record 47 stand-up comedians including Siraj Khan, Johnny Lever, Raju Srivastav, Kapil Sharma, Navin Prabhakar, Ahsaan Qureshi and many more.
When asked Pal why he decided to make a film on serious real life incidents as he has acted in several comedy films in the past, he said, “Earlier, I made a film called ‘Bhavnao Ko Samjho’ which had elements of emotion along with comedy. After that, I made a film called ‘Money Back Guarantee’ which was based on the loan system in our country. Then, I made another film titled ‘Wig Boss’ and now I have made a film on lockdown, so I have always made films which are connected with common people's lives.”
Talking about the release of ‘Lockdown To Unlock’, Pal said, “We are planning to release the film in theaters most probably in the first week of April this year.”
Talking about his upcoming film, Pal said, “It is based on incidents which happened during lockdown in the country. We have just finished shooting the film and now we are into the post-production process. We have Ganesh Acharya ji, Vijay Patkar ji, Bigg Boss 2 winner Ashutosh Kaushik and a few comedy actors in the film. I feel it's a funny, entertaining and relatable film. There are really good songs in the film which have been sung by singers like Sonu Nigam, Shahid Mallya, Shadab Sabri and Sana Aziz. I feel we have made a good film which has duration of 1 hour and 50 minutes, so I am very excited for its release.”
He added, “In the film, we have shown despair of migrant workers who didn’t have any resources available at that time. I have shown issues of middle class and lower middle class citizens, what bollywood has gone through in that phase along with its connection with drug cartel, media and government’s role in the entire crisis and bank and industrial crisis during that time, so I have covered almost all aspects in the film.”
