Three people have been booked for allegedly raping and murdering an 18year old Dalit girl in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh. Her body was later found hanging from a tree in Belatal area.
Accused named Tarun, Bhupendra and Rohit are booked on charges of rape and murder and under the provisions of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act at the Kulpahad police station.
“The 18-year-old had left home to buy vegetables on Sunday afternoon but did not return. Later, her family members found her body hanging from a tree in the Belatal area,” Circle Officer Rampravesh Rai said.
On Monday, the complaint and FIR were filed by the victim’s mother which was registered against the three accused. No arrests have been made by the police so far. The matter is being investigated and the post mortem report is awaited.
The deceased’s aunt informed the police that the victim was being harassed by a man in their locality who kept making phone calls to her for last one month.
