Reviewing city's Covid-19 situation periodically, Delhi govt tells HC

New Delhi, Nov 26 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Delhi High Court was on Monday informed that the Delhi government is continuously monitoring the Covid-19 situation in the national capital.

Additional Solicitor General Sanjay Jain, appearing for the city government, also told the court that a review was last done by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), and especially with regard to Delhi by the Union Home Minister.

The situation was reviewed on Wednesday night also and it will again be done before the next date of hearing of the case, he said, seeking that the matter be taken up after some days.

The submissions came as a bench of Justice Navin Chawla was hearing a petition filed against the AAP government's decision to reserve 80 per cent ICU beds in 33 private hospitals for Covid-19 patients, in view of the present situation.

The numbers, we know, are presently in an alarming state, said Justice Chawla while listing the matter for hearing on December 9.

On November 12, the High Court lifted the interim stay order on Delhi Government decision to reserve the ICU beds.

While passing the said order, a division bench of Justices Hima Kohli and Subramonioum Prasad said: "In view of the present situation in Delhi, the spiralling cases and the ground reality which is different from how it was when the stay order was passed, the stay order on reservation is vacated."

The bench, however, stressed that no person in a health emergency can be allowed to run from pillar to post when there is a bed available.

It also held that nodal officers are in a position to relax the norm of 80 per cent for these hospitals.
