The persistent disinformation campaign of the State BJP leadership that the Centre had released a staggering Rs 7,000 crore to Telangana State to fight the coronavirus pandemic was thoroughly exposed when Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Ashwini Kumar Choubey categorically stated in Parliament that the State had been given only Rs 290 crore over two years.
Choubey, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha, clearly said the Union government had released Rs 33.40 crore in 2019-20 and Rs 256.89 crore in 2020-21 to Telangana State for management and containment of the pandemic. Interestingly, the Union Ministers reply was to a query raised by State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, who represents Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency. Sanjay and other leaders from the saffron party have been shouting from the rooftops that Telangana had received humongous funding from the Centre to fight Covid-19 in an attempt to malign the TRS government.
