Shefali Shah is overjoyed as ‘Delhi Crime’ wins big at 48th International Emmy Awards

Actress Shefali Shah is overjoyed as her Netflix web series ‘Delhi Crime’ won the Best Drama Series award at the 48th International Emmys Awards on Monday. It is the first show from India to win an Emmy award. It premiered on Netflix in March 2019 to rave reviews.

Shefali played the role of DCP Vartika Chaturvedi, who leads a thorough search for the culprits of the horrific 2012 Delhi gang-rape and murder, in the web-series. Sharing a snippet from the award show, which was held virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic, she wrote on her Instagram handle "OMG, OMG, OMG."

 

The video, recorded by Shefali Shah, shows director Richie Mehta delivering a quick speech after winning the award. In the background, Shefali can be heard screaming "Oh my god" with joy.

Actor Adil Hussain who is also a part of the web series, tweeted, “Delhi Crime #DelhiCrime wins the Emmy @iemmys International Awards for Best Drama. Congratulations @RichieMehta unmatchable @ShefaliShah dearest @rajeshtailang and whole team Big Big Congratulations!”

Richie Mehta directorial ‘Delhi Crime’, starring Shefali Shah, Rasika Dugal, Adil Hussain, Rajesh Tailang, Vinod Sherawat, Denzil Smith, Gopal Dutt, Yashaswini Dayama and Jaya Bhattacharya, is a fictionalised crime drama, based on the painstaking investigation into the 2012 Delhi gang-rape. Richie, in his acceptance speech, paid tribute to the victim and her mother.

Amazon Prime Video's ‘Four More Shots Please’ was also nominated for the Best Comedy Series at the 48th International Emmys while actor Arjun Mathur was up for the Best Actor award for his role in ‘Made In Heaven’.

Meanwhile, makers of ‘Delhi Crime’ earlier announced that soon they will are going to come up with season two in which main cast of series will reprise their roles.
