While television enjoys immense reach and popularity, it’s also a medium where actors get easily stereotyped. Aakash Talwar would know. The actor, who plays the role of a brother in two shows --- Naagin 5 and Shakti -- Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki --- says, “Well, who doesn’t like to be a ‘Bhai’ in this industry? (Laughs!). On a serious note, it’s true that I have been offered only brother’s roles. Viewers probably appreciate me as the caring and protective bhai, but I feel that there is a lot more to explore in me as an actor.”
Ask Aakash the kind of roles that he wants to play, and he replies, “I’m looking forward to shows that will help me break the monotony of playing the brother. At the same time, they should also bring out my versatility as an actor.”
While he is keen to play a variety of roles, Aakash has no complaints about the way his career is going. “In fact, I began my acting career by playing Tinaa Dattaa’s (Janvi) brother (Harsh) in the drama series, Daayan. Also, Daljeet (his character in Shakti -- Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki) is different from Tapish of Naagin 5. So, though I am playing a brother in both shows, as an actor, they are both performance-oriented,” he shares, adding, “Based on my experience, I feel that certain people look perfect in certain roles and they kind of set a benchmark. So, they are offered the same kind of roles. In my case, I have become the bhai of television.”
