Give cash relief to Delhi's 72 lakh ration card holders: Congress
New Delhi, Oct 24 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Delhi Congress on Saturday staged a protest at Jantar Mantar here over the spiralling prices of onion and other essential commodities and demanded the Delhi government to give cash relief to 72 lakh ration card holders to meet festival expenses.

Hundred of Congress activists led by city party unit chief Chaudhary Anil Kumar held a demonstration to protest the spiralling prices of onion, potato, tomato and other essential commodities during the festival season, due to the collusion of the Narendra Modi and Arvind Kejriwal governments with hoarders and black-marketeers.

Congress workers raised slogans against the Modi and Kejriwal governments.

Speaking to media, Kumar demanded that the head of the family of nearly 72 lakh card holders in Delhi be given a cash incentive of Rs 10,000 each to tide over the financial crisis in this festival season.

He said that when the Covid pandemic broke out, former party chief Rahul Gandhi had demanded that the government should give financial help to each poor family under the Nyay Yojna.

He said that Delhi government's decision to give Rs 10,000 salary advance to its staff was no great deal as it will be deducted from their salary any way.

"Instead, the Kejriwal government should have given bonus to its staff which would have been a great relief for them," the Congress leader said.

Kumar said that ever since the BJP government came to power at the Centre and the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi, it has been a common feature to see prices of all the essential items shoot up during the festival season, as both these governments were in league with the hoarders and black-marketeers, who fund their parties.

He said that with the Modi government looking the other way when hoarders and black-marketeers created artificial scarcity of onion, potato and other essential items to push up the prices.

He also alleged that the corrupt AAP government was dancing to the tunes of the profiteers in the vegetable markets as the Delhi government was incompetent and incapable of reining-in the hoarders and black-marketeers.

Kumar said it was shocking that the AAP government has been keeping a silence when the prices of onions were soaring higher and higher, instead of ensuring that enough supply of the vegetable is made available in the market to tide over the crisis.
