Dharma Productions is one of the biggest film production companies in the country. Founded by Yash Johar and now helmed by his son Karan Johar, the company has completed 40 years since its inception and in these 40 years, it has entertained us with innumerable films. Karan Johar took to his social media account to commemorate the completion of its 40 years and penned a heartfelt note as an ode to his father.
Sharing a picture with his father Yash Johar, KJo wrote, "40 years ago on this date you released your first film DOSTANA and thus began a company that was so close to your heart....all your tremendous karma is in every sunshine ray of @dharmamovies ....all we have done is bask in the glory of your goodwill.... we stand tall because of your teachings and pray everyday that you are proud of all of us Papa! Dharma is a result of so many of us who strive everyday to spread cheer at the movies...we miss you ...but we feel your hand on our head and that gives us the courage to combat and to create ....I love you so much Papa..."
The company's first production was 'Dostana' in the year 1980 starring Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha and Zeenat Aman.
Yash Johar helmed the company till the year 2004 and post his death Karan Johar, his son took over. In the year 2018, a new sector of the company 'Dharmatic' was formed which focuses on producing digital content.
Dharma's upcoming releases are Rohit Shetty's 'Sooryavanshi', Ayan Mukherji's 'Brahmastra', Vishnuvardhan's 'Shershaah', Collin D'cunha's 'Dostana 2'.
Even Karan Johar's directorial 'Takht' is a part of this list.
