Ranchi, Aug 31 (SocialNews.XYZ) Five wild deer were run over by a goods train in the buffer area of the Palamu Tiger Reserve (PTR) in Jharkhand on Monday, officials said.

According to the PTR officials, the five deer, including a pregnant one, were mowed down by a speeding goods train near Kechki railway station. The new-born was also killed in the incident.

Three deer were dragged for 3 km on the track, officials added.

"We had information of passing of a goods train at around 10 a.m. on Monday. We will write to railway authorities for action against the driver of the train", PTR Deputy Director (north division) Kumar Ashish said.
