Baghdad, Aug 27 (SocialNews.XYZ) Two staffers of the World Health Organization (WHO) were injured in a roadside bomb explosion in Iraq's Nineveh province, a police official said.
The vehicle was hit by the roadside bomb planted by the Islamic State (IS) militants, while it was moving near the town of Bartella, about 30 km east of the provincial capital Mosul, Mazin al-Ahmadi, head of the media office of provincial police told Xinhua news agency on Wednesday.
The two staffers, who sustained injuries, were both Iraqi citizens, al-Ahmadi said.
The WHO has been providing medical aid to the badly devastated health institutions in Nineveh province, as well as medical support to hundreds of thousands of displaced people in the country.
On July 10, 2017, the Iraqi security forces regained full control of the city of Mosul, some 400 km north of Baghdad, after fierce battles against the IS terror group.
