‘Love Aaj Kal’ completes 11 years; Deepika Padukone shares throwback picture

Actress Deepika Padukone, who featured in Imtiaz Ali directorial ‘Love Aaj Kal’ in 2009 along with Saif Ali Khan, shared a throwback picture on her Instagram handle as the film completed 11 years on Friday.

Sharing the picture, Deepika wrote, “The eyes say it all...❤️ #Meera #11YearsOfLoveAajKal @imtiazaliofficial @maddockfilms @erosnow”.

In the picture, Deepika Padukone and Imtiaz Ali can be seen smiling at each other. The picture was taken in Metro rail.

Deepika recent post got more than 1.7 millions likes on Instagram. Deepika and Imtiaz’s close friend Alia Bhatt commented on picture by writing “best people” with love emoji.

Deepika even changed profile picture of her Instagram handle and she kept ‘Love Aaj Kal’ poster as the profile picture.  She named her profile as ‘Meera’ which was her character name in the film.

‘Love Aaj Kal’ showcased two parallel love stories separated by time. The story that featured Deepika and Saif Ali Khan, was set in 2009 or the titular "aaj," the other one that featured Giselli Monteiro, was representative of old school romance and was narrated by late actor Rishi Kapoor.

The film explored the themes of modern day romance, break ups and the complications that come with it. Love Aaj Kal was a hit at the box office.

Earlier this year, Imtiaz Ali directed the second installment of ‘Love Aaj Kal’ with the same name. The film featured Saif Ali Khan's daughter Sara Ali Khan, Kartik Aaryan, Arushi Sharma and Randeep Hooda (in a cameo appearance). The film didn't fare well at the box office.

Deepika Padukone next will be seen onscreen in Kabir Khan’s directorial ‘83’ along with her actor husband Ranveer Singh.

The film is scheduled to be released on Christmas 2020.
