A spine chilling trailer of Sputnik is out. The science fiction horror film is directed by Egor Abramenko in his feature directorial debut.
The movie stars Oksana Akinshina as a young doctor who is recruited by the military to assess a cosmonaut who survived a mysterious space accident and returned to Earth with a dangerous organism living inside him.
Film is about a Soviet-era cosmonaut who gets possessed by an alien entity after a mission in outer space goes awry. The movie is set at the height of the Cold War and clearly draws inspiration from classics like Ridley Scott's Alien and John Carpenter's The Thing.
Sputnik was scheduled to have its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in April 2020 prior to the festival being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The movie also stars Pyotr Fyodorov and Fyodor Bondarchuk.
The film was released on video-on-demand in Russia on April 23, 2020.
