The 17 Originals announced by Netflix India consist of various genres like drama, thriller, horror, comedy and romance. Out of all, one movie that definitely caught the attention of the audience is 'Kaali Khuhi', starring Shabana Azmi, Riva Arora and Satyadeep Mishra.
It was in 2019, when the director of the film Terrie Samundra announced that her film 'Kaali Khuhi' will make its premiere on Netflix but since then there was no news about it. Finally two days back, the film found its way in the list of 17 originals announced by Netflix which will stream soon on the platform.
'Kaali Khuhi' deals with the ill practice of female infanticide in Punjab.The movie tells us the story of a 10 year old girl who wants to eradicate this practice from a village in Punjab.
Punjab is a state where social issues like drug addiction, domestic violence, child marriage, female infanticide is still prevalant till date. This movie will focus on why there is a decline in sex ratio in Punjab which the people of the country ought to know.
Film will showcase Shabana Azmi in a very intense role. With the acting abilities of Shabana Azmi and Satyadeep Mishra, we are sure debutant director Terrie Samundra must be bringing something worth watching to the table!
The film is produced by Manomay Motion Pictures. Trailer and Release date of the film are yet to be announced.
