Pak shelling forces LoC residents to migrate to safe places

Srinagar, June 14 (SocialNews.XYZ) With no end to ceasefire violations by Pakistan, most people living near the Zero Line have been forced to move to safer places to escape shelling and firing.

Uri has seen one of the worst ceasefire violations over the last few days with Pakistani forces constantly pounding civilian areas and defence positions along the LoC.

Many families living near the LoC in the Uri sector have now moved to safer zones, at times in groups, putting themselves to another risk: Covid-19. These people are demanding underground bunkers to save themselves from Pakistani aggression.

"Not a day passes without Pakistani shelling. We have repeatedly requested the government to build bunkers for the victims of shelling. They must also be taken to safer places to save themselves from shelling," said Lal Hassan Kohli, a resident of Charunda village in Uri.

There has been a major flare-up along the LoC in the Uri sector in north Kashmir and also south of Pir Panjal in areas of Poonch.

One woman was killed on Friday in Uri and one soldier died and two others were injured in the Poonch sector on Saturday night in Pakistani shelling. Earlier one Army jawan was martyred in Pakistani firing in the Rajouri sector on Thursday.

"We have brought out 12 families from the shelling-hit areas and moved them to safe places. There are some facilities of the NHPC, where we have kept them, but more families are being brought in who will be staying there till the situation improves," said SDM Uri, Riyaz Ahmad.
