New Delhi, April 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) The 21-day nationwide lockdown imposed to break the chain of the deadly coronavirus has also helped in bringing down the crime graph in the national capital.

Between March 15 to March 31, 2020, only 1993 FIRs were registered while during March 15 to March 31, 2019 the number of FIRs registered was 3416.

The incidents of loot have also come down as only 53 cases were registered from March 15 to March 31, 2020 while during the same period last year the number of cases was 109.

Similarly, the incidents of pickpocketing have come down to three from 13. The three cases of pickpocketing were reported before the lockdown. No case of kidnapping has been registered from March 15 to March 20, 2020 while one case was registered during the same period last year.

Road accidents have also reduced during this period. 219 cases of road accidents were reported from March 15 to March 20, 2019 while only 112 cases were reported during the same period in 2020.

The cases of eve teasing have also come down by almost 50 per cent. During March 15 to March 31, 2019 a total of 144 cases were registered while during the same period this year only 72 cases were registered.

Delhi police spokesperson Anil Mittal told IANS: "The crime graph has come down drastically. This has mainly happened due to the lockdown because people are not coming out of their houses so the criminals are not getting a chance to commit any crime."
