Recall the journey behind Nirbhaya justice

New Delhi, March 20 (SocialNews.XYZ) Women rights activist and founder of NGO People Against Rapes in India (PARI) recalled the journey of the whole movement.

Narrating the whole movement from the beginning, Bhayana said that on December 17, 2012 when she got to know about the incident, she cried and decided that she will fight the battle for getting justice to Nirbhaya.

"In those days, I had a lot of friends that I had made during the Anna Hazare movement and created a team called '16 December Kranti', at that time I along with my team protested outside the India Gate, Raisina Hills and in the same I broke my leg but I didn't stop and kept protesting with even a plaster in my leg," Yogita said.

She further said that she also fought for the justice of another such victims including the Gudiya case minor.

Narrating further, she said, "I then decided that I will work for rape victims. I also guided Nirbhaya's Mother time to time regarding the legal battle."

In 2015, when the juvenile was getting released, she convinced Nirbhaya's Mother to come to the protest at Majnu Ka Tila but even after protesting for two days, the juvenile was released, Bhayana said.

In order to ensure that such a thing does not happen in future, she along with her team met with parliamentarians to assert that the Juveniles's age is reduced and an act was passed later.

"I always kept attending court hearing with Nirbhaya's mother and I never stopped guiding Nirbhaya's Parents and this is how the seven years long journey ended," she concluded.

The four convicts in the Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case - Mukesh, Pawan, Akshay and Vinay will be hanged till death around two hours from now i.e. at 5:30 a.m.
