Bollywood actor Saqib Saleem, who will be essaying the role of 1983 World Cup final's Man of the Match Mohinder Amarnath in upcoming film '83' said that people of India should manifest the same buzz and energy for Indian Women Cricket Team, as they show for Indian Men Cricket Team.

Saqib Saleem was seen interacting with the media on Monday in Mumbai at the Women's week celebration.

Expressing further on the same, Saqib said, "I think this is the time we should cheer up our Indian Women cricket Team. They are doing so well in the T20 World Cup and for semi-final they were undefeated in the tournament. I don’t think it’s odd. In fact, we should support women especially in sports. It was in older days, women were meant to look after only household chores and were not allowed to step out of the house. But, nowadays modern women go out and achieve whatever she wants to. It may be sports or any other field”

“If it would have been Indian's Men Cricket  World Cup semifinal, then the climate of our country would have been something different. But why there is not the same kind of atmosphere, why people are not showing the same kind of buzz and energy now. While playing for semifinal our Indian Women cricket Team were undefeated. We really need to be aware of this and make others also aware about it. Hence I think that's really of paramount importance” added Saqib.

About the movie '83',  he forthcoming sports drama is directed by Kabir Khan and jointly produced by Khan, Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Phantom Films, Deepika Padukone and Sajid Nadiadwala.

The story narrates Dev's journey of life as well as how he became the captain of the India national cricket team and won the 1983 Cricket World Cup.
