Netflix released the official trailer “Self Made: Inspired By the Life of Madam C.J. Walker”.
The true story of African American entrepreneur Madam C.J. Walker, who built a hair-care empire that made her the first female self-made millionaire.
Self Made tells the untold and highly irreverent story of black hair care pioneer and mogul Madam C. J. Walker and how she overcame hostile turn-of-the-century America, epic rivalries, tumultuous marriages and some trifling family to become America’s first black, self-made female millionaire.
Executive produced by and starring Octavia Spencer, the four-part limited series details the life of America’s first self-made millionaire. She fought for social change and simultaneously overcame post-slavery racial and gender biases, personal betrayals, and business rivalries to build a ground-breaking brand that revolutionized black hair-care.
The series also stars Tiffany Haddish, Carmen Ejogo, Garrett Morris, Kevin Carroll and Bill Bellamy.
The series will launch March 20.
