New Delhi, Feb 1 (SocialNews.XYZ) Industry observers and analysts have lauded the government's proposal to introduce dedicated rail and flight transport services for the agri-allied sector.
Under the 16-point plan to boost agriculture and allied sectors, Sitharaman announced in her Union Budget presentation that Kisan Rail, a special refrigerated rail service, under private-public-partnership, will be launched for speedy transport of perishable farm produce. Alongside, there are plans to introduce air transport support for transporting perishable agri-produce in the form of Krishi Udaan by the ministry of Civil Aviation.
Ajay Sawhney, Partner, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas noted that the rail and air schemes would play a pivotal role in achieving the objectives of the 16-point laid out by the finance minister.
"If formulated and implemented well, these schemes will be the adifferent set of solutions' that the agriculture sector has been longing for." he added.
While the plan may take time to take off the ground, observers feel that with the support of the Railways and Civil Aviation ministry, there could be encouraging results at the ground level.
