Oppn-ruled states, CMs fare better than BJP in people's' view

New Delhi, Jan 26 (SocialNews.XYZ) Chief Ministers and governments in non-BJP ruled states are more popular than BJP-led governments in their respective states, as per as the findings of the IANS-CVoter State of the Nation (SOTN) Republic Day survey released on Sunday.

The most popular Chief Minister is Arvind Kejriwal, who has topped the survey, in the midst of an electoral battle for the Delhi Assembly.

 

As per the survey, 58.8 per cent respondents are very satisfied with the performance of the Delhi Chief Minister indicating a net positive trend of 67.7 per cent. In comparison, only 16.6 percent of respondents are not satisfied with his performance.

While 52.3 per cent of people are "very much satisfied" with the work of the state government, 22.5 per cent people are "satisfied to some extent", pointing to a net positive trend of 15 per cent. On the other hand, 25.2 percent of people are not satisfied with the state government's performance.

Ranking behind Kejriwal is Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Bhagel with 37.4 per cent of people stating that they are "very much satisfied" with the Chief Minister.

Others in the list of top 5 Chief Ministers, in order of popularity, are Hemant Soren of Jharkhand, Naveen Patnaik of Odisha and Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy of Andhra Pradesh.

As far as states are concerned, the list of top five is headed by Odisha, followed by Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh.

The least popular government is of Goa where 62.5 per cent of respondents are unhappy with the state government.

In what could be a cause of concern to the BJP, only party-ruled Himachal Pradesh is in the top five, followed by Assam at number 8 and NDA-ruled Bihar at number 9.

The IANS-CVoter Republic Day SOTN survey findings were collated on the basis of data compiled over the previous 12 weeks running up to January 25. The sample size comprises of 30,240 people spread across 543 Lok Sabha seats. The margin of error is +/- 3 percent at the macro level and +/- 5 percent at the micro level.
