Swapan Sadhan Bose named Mohun Bagan President

Kolkata, Jan 20 (SocialNews.XYZ) Businessman Swapan Sadhan Bose was on Monday named President of Mohun Bagan club, a position which remained vacant after lawyer Gitanath Ganguly passed away.

"The club lost its President Ganguly in December 2019 and subsequently the executive committee members in today's meeting unanimously decided to select Swapan Sadhan Bose as the new President of the club," the club said in a statement.

Bose's son, Srinjoy Bose, was made the general secretary, while Satyajit Chatterjee, who was the treasurer, became the assistant general secretary. Uttam Saha, previously ground secretary, will now be the treasurer with Mahesh Tekriwal and Sandipan Banerjee being elected unopposed as ground secretary and hockey secretary, respectively.

On Thursday, ATK acquired majority stake in Mohun Bagan. The green and maroon side will join hands with ATK to play in the Indian Super League from next season.

The RPSG Group, which owns and runs two-time ISL champions ATK, became 80 per cent majority shareholder with Mohun Bagan owning the remaining 20 per cent shares. The merged club will come into existence from June 1, 2020, and will compete in the ISL 2020-21, along with other important competitions in the All India Football Federation (AIFF) calendar.
