Newbie Sonnalli Seygall says that she is being type-casted in glamorous roles but she is trying to break free from the image.
Sonnalli have worked in films such as Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Wedding Pullav, Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2, High Jack and Setters, now she is gearing up for her first solo release, Jai Mummy Di.
When asked about being type-cast into glamorous roles, Sonnalli said, “Yes, that is true, and I have been very vocal about it as well. It is very easy to get type-casted when you’re starting out you get offered very similar kind of roles. But this is not a conscious decision that you plan to be part of industry and wants to do only glamorous roles, in fact contrary is true, initially you only do roles which are offered to you and after sometimes you have to search for roles which break that image. I have nothing against glamorous roles, I want to do them, but I feel there is more to my personality which I need to explore. Even my role in Jai Mummy Di is not something I have done before and I am very excited.”
Jai Mummy Di is an upcoming romantic comedy film directed by debutant Navjot Gulati, also starring Sunny Singh, Supriya Pathak and Poonam Dhillon. The film tells the story of conflicting dynamics between mothers of protagonists and how that is affecting them and other members of both the families.
Talking about her film and the response she has been getting, Sonnalli added, “I am excited for my movie, like a little girl. I am getting great response and feedback from all the quarters. I wasn’t expecting this much but the songs have taken-off, our chemistry (Sunny-Sonnalli) is being appreciated and people are actually excited to watch us after Pyar Ka Punchnama 2. So it’s positive all around, and one thing which everyone is telling me is that the film is quite relatable and quirky”
“I do believe that Jai Mummy Di is a relatable and quirky film. The set up is very real in the film, and film is being appreciated for its space, so that is very encouraging” she added.
The film is scheduled to be released on 17th Jan, 2020.
