Didn’t casted Bollywood fames, my film tackles real and not fake, says Vidhu Vinod Chopra.

Director, producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra is all geared up with his upcoming movie ‘Shikara - The Untold Story of Kashmiri Pandits’, says that he didn’t casted any Bollywood fames, because his film tackles real and not fake. He further added that he doesn’t wanted his film to look alike any other Bollywood films.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra was interacting with the media on Tuesday in Mumbai.

When asked about his thoughts in casting fresh faces, on this Vinod said, “From the very beginning I had a strong idea in my mind, that I’ll cast people according to their characters for my movie. Most of the actors are from Jammu and Kashmir. Indu Sharma from Bhagarwa went to Jammu and Kashmir, she helped me out in getting the best. She send me the screen test of many artist and we finally casted Sadia and Aadil Khan. This film is dedicated to my mother, who is no more, so I never thought to execute the film on commercial basis. I am sure that my film will make big, as my mother’s blessings are always with me.”

Talking about commercialized cinema, Vidhu expressed, “It was easy for me to approach any Bollywood fames. It may be Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma or anyone else, no one would have denied working with me, but I didn’t. Hence, I just want to say that this film is not just dedicated to my mother, this film is for every mother of India. I am grateful to my whole crew, as they have worked very very hard in the film.”

‘Shikara - The Untold Story of Kashmiri Pandits’ is an upcoming historical drama, romantic feature film produced and directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra under his own banner, Vinod Chopra Films. The film is based on the Kashmiri pandit exodus from Kashmir. Music is composed by A.R. Rahman, starring Sadia and Aadil Khan. It is scheduled to release on 7 February 2020.
