Ranveer Singh has been cast as Kapil Dev in Kabir Khan's sports drama '83, which tracks the story of India's historic World Cup win in 1983 under the captaincy of Kapil Dev.

The film is produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Madhu Mantena, Deepika Padukone and Sajid Nadiadwala. It also stars Deepika Padukone, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Amrita Puri, Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani and Sahil Khattar.
The story narrates Dev's journey of life as well as how he became the captain of the India national cricket team and won the 1983 Cricket World Cup. The film is expected to be theatrically released in India on 10 April 2020, along with dubbed versions in Tamil and Telugu languages.
