Actor Arjun Kapoor says that for playing historic character one needs to get the details and facts right, on the sidelines of his recent media interaction.
Actor Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon along with filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker were interacting with media to promote their forthcoming period drama Panipat in Mumbai.
Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker is a tough task master, who rely lot on research and detailing. Arjun Kapoor is venturing into period drama genre with Panipat and talks about the importance of research material.
When asked about Ashutosh Gowariker being a stickler for details and research, Arjun Kapoor said, “It is good that Ashutosh Gowariker pays attention and provides you with every minute detail about the character and story because as an actor, to be part of historical drama based on true story, you rely a lot on the research. And if I start doing my own research than my research and his research would start clashing, so I have to align with his research and vision to tell the story. A story could be narrated with many different angles and interpretation. So it is important to understand his vision”
“Ashutosh is very patient and he’d always take time to explain his vision with logic. He’d always explain the reason why the character is like this or doing that. So that details are important, without it the actor is incomplete. Because as Arjun Kapoor I can act like Sadashiv Rao, all I need is his cloths, but detailing makes the character authentic” added Arjun.
Panipat is set in the 18th century, when Marathas emerged as the most powerful empire in the whole India. However, their happiness is short lived as the Afghan King Ahmad Shah Abdali plans to take over India and the Maratha Peshwa orders Sadashiv Rao Bhau to stop him at any cost, thus leading to the Third Battle of Panipat between the two armies.
The film is helmed by Ashutosh Gowarikar, also starring Sanjay Dutt and Kriti Sanon in the lead roles. It is scheduled to release on 6 December 2019.
