Severe cold conditions to persist in Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 16 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday warned that cold wave conditions in Kashmir will persist till the end of this month.

It has also predicted a fresh spell or wet weather on November 21 and 22.

 

"There will be a fresh spell of wet weather of mild intensity on the 21st and 22nd of November in Kashmir due to western disturbance," Sonam Lotus, Director, Meteorological Department Kashmir told IANS.

On Saturday the maximum temperature in Srinagar was recorded at 8 degrees and 1 degree in the ski resort of Gulmarg.

According to the Met department there will be a momentary break from the gloomy weather on Sunday.

"Kashmir will see some sunshine on Sunday", Sonam Lotus said.

On Friday, the upper reaches in Kashmir, including tourist resorts like Gulmarg and Yusmarg received fresh snowfall.

Meanwhile the Jammu-Srinagar national highway has opened after three days after it was closed by landslides triggered by incessant rain since Thursday.

There are about 4,000 vehicles, mostly trucks, stuck on the highway. The vehicles will be allowed to move on the highway on Saturday, officials said.
