GHMC has, on Thursday, submitted budget proposals worth ₹6,974 crore to the standing committee for the year 2020-21, which is a drastic drop from the revised budget estimates of 2019-20.
The original budgetary estimates for 2019-20 were exponential at ₹11,538 crore, which were cut down to ₹9219 crore in the revised estimates. The funding from other corporations was proportionately cut down from ₹5,388 crore to ₹3,965 crore.
The draft budget shows over 50 per cent decline in the capital expenditure from other corporations, and marginal increase in GHMC’s own expenditure.
A total of ₹5,380 crore budget was proposed under the Capital and Revenue expenditure of GHMC, which is an increase from the revised budgetary estimates of ₹5,254 crore for the year 2019-20.
