Disney+ to stream on Amazon's Fire TV platform at launch

San Francisco, Nov 9 (SocialNews.XYZ) Disney CEO Bob Iger has revealed that the company's online streaming service Disney Plus (Disney+) will be available on Amazon's Fire TV platform at launch.

The Disney+ app on Fire TV will tie into Amazon's universal search feature, meaning that a user would be able to request specific shows through Alexa with commands, The Verge reported on Friday.

Disney+ will be launched in the US on November 12, for $6.99 per month or $69 per year. Earlier, Disney said it expects it will spend about $1 billion in 2020 on original content for the platform and $2 billion by 2024.

Recently the company announced that the service will be launched in major European markets, including the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and "a number of other countries in the region" on March 31.

"Just announced: #DisneyPlus will be available in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain (and more to be announced soon) starting on March 31st. Please note: Titles may vary by territory," Disney+ tweeted on Friday.

This will come almost 20 weeks after the service begins in the US, Canada and the Netherlands.

According to the company, the movies and shows users stream will vary by territory, because Disney has rights agreements with other companies for much of its content.
