No privacy is left for anybody: SC

New Delhi, Nov 4 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Supreme Court on Monday remarked that "no privacy is left for anybody" as it heard the case of tapping of phones of Chhattisgarh's Special Director General of Police (DGP) Mukesh Gupta and his family members.

A bench of Justices Arun Mishra and Indira Banerjee asked the Chhattisgarh government whether right to privacy of an individual can be violated in such a way.

Questioning the need for tapping of phone of senior police officer, the top court directed the Chhattisgarh government to file a detailed affidavit explaining who had ordered interception of the phones and the reasons behind it.

"Can privacy of somebody be violated like this? Who ordered this? File a detailed affidavit," the court said.

The court also directed Gupta's advocate not to politicise the issue by dragging the name of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in the matter.
