South Korea edge China 2-1 in AFC U-19 women's soccer C'ship
Bangkok, Oct 29 (SocialNews.XYZ) Two goals from captain Kang Ji-woo helped South Korea beat China 2-1 at the AFC U-19 Women's Championship.

Kang struck either side of the break to ensure a winning start for the South Koreans, who stay in second place in the Group B standings after Japan overcame Myanmar 5-0 earlier in the day, reports Xinhua news agency.

South Korea jumped ahead in the first minute, as captain Kang collected Cho Mi-jin's astute pass before bursting into the area and rolling the ball past Zhu Mengdi in the Chinese goal.

China grabbed an equalizer in the 34th minute when Han Xuan's looping shot from 20 yards sailed into the top corner.

The South Koreans began the second period as they had the first, with Choi Dak-yeong firing narrowly over the bar and Kang planting a firm header against the bar inside five minutes of the restart.

After a period of defensive dominance, South Korea restored their advantage on 72 minutes when Kang fired home to bag her second of the night.

South Korea will now look to make it two wins from two when they face Japan on Thursday, the same day as China meet Myanmar.
